The short answer
Turret fits a small RIA that needs email archiving, Marketing Rule review and website archiving without a full compliance suite. It archives sent and received mail from Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, gives each flagged outbound email a written reason, and archives your website. The price is published, there is no setup fee, the free trial runs 15 days, and setup takes about ten minutes.
RIA in a Box (now Comply for RIA) is a full compliance platform: the compliance program, Code of Ethics, personal trading and Form ADV, as well as archiving. Turret is not one. If you need that program in one place, choose RIA in a Box.
What this means for your firm
- If your program already lives elsewhere, compare the overlap: email, website and Marketing Rule review.
- Ask Comply which tier includes archiving, what the contract term is, and what export looks like at the end.
- Turret archives from your mailboxes, not from another archive. Records held only in Comply, such as texts or social posts, stay there: export them before an account closes.
- Not sure whether your program is covered? Start with the compliance-program row in the overlap table and book a Comply demo. If only email, website and Marketing Rule review are open, start the trial.
See Turret's price at your own mailbox count: use the archiving cost calculator. For the other options and the unit each is priced by, see what email archiving costs a small RIA in 2026.
Is Turret a replacement for RIA in a Box?
No, not for a whole compliance program. Comply says RIA in a Box helps draft a Code of Ethics, manage personal trading and prepare Form ADV; Turret has no such tools. They overlap on email and website archiving, email review and Marketing Rule review.
Comply describes RIA in a Box as "Purpose-built for RIAs navigating SEC and state requirements." This is not a large vendor set against a small one. It is a whole compliance platform set against an archive and a review workflow.

Does RIA in a Box publish its price?
Not on the pages we checked. They offer "Book a Demo" and a sales email address. Turret's prices are on its pricing page, and it has no setup fee.
Comply's tier PDF says "Contact us to learn more at sales@comply.com". Its 2025 chart ticks the Archiving Solution row under Comprehensive and Premium and marks it "$" under Standard and Advanced, with no legend for the "$".
Turret: Email is $99 a month for 5 monitored mailboxes, then $25 for each extra one. Marketing is $99 a month for 5 submitters, then $15 for each extra; approvers are free. Complete, both, is $178. Website archiving is in every plan. See pricing.
Does RIA in a Box have marketing review?
Comply's tier charts list a marketing review tool in all four software tiers, but its current product pages do not mention one. Its separate NRS module also routes materials to reviewers for approval; no AI pre-screen is described on the pages we cite.
Comply's pages differ on this. A 2024 post says supervisors "can use the SEC Rule Checklist during the compliance review and approval process for marketing and advertising materials," and that each review activity is documented in the firm's compliance log. NRS ComplianceGuardian is a separate Comply product; its page does not say it is part of Comply for RIA. It lets reviewers "send materials to anyone in the organization for edits or senior members for approval" and archives "the prior version"; a 2025 post calls it "an add-on or standalone module."
No page we cite describes how a piece is submitted. Turret's workflow: an AI pre-screen that only flags, a named approver, a version record; a person decides. See Marketing Rule review.
Choose RIA in a Box if
- You need a compliance program in one place. Comply says RIA in a Box helps draft a Code of Ethics and policies, manage personal trading, and prepare and file Form ADV.
- You want texts or social posts captured. Comply lists texts through partners, iMessage and WhatsApp, LinkedIn and X. Turret does not capture texts or social media; it captures email and your website. Whether a message type is a record you must keep is a question for your CCO and counsel.
- You want a person to review your marketing. Comply's consulting page lists "Marketing Material Reviews," and its Enhanced service includes marketing and advertising review. Turret has no outside reviewer: someone at your firm decides.
- You are state-registered. Comply lists packages for state-registered firms. Turret is built around SEC-registered advisers and Rule 204-2.
- You want a person to scope the work. Comply's route in is a demo: "Book a Demo."
Choose Turret if
- You want a reason with every flag. Turret checks outbound mail against 15 patterns, 14 on by default, and AI triage gives each alert a confidence level and a short written reason, so a reviewer opens a queue. Inbound mail is archived, not reviewed.
- You want to start without a call. There is a 15-day free trial, setup takes about ten minutes, and the card is entered at the end. Prices are on the pricing page.
- You want to connect a mailbox yourself. Setup is a wizard you complete; no mail is archived until the card is entered.
- You want Marketing Rule review on its own. The Marketing plan is sold without Email, approvers are free, and a one-person firm can approve its own piece. Turret computes each piece's Rule 204-2(e)(3) clock: five years from the end of the fiscal year it was last disseminated, with no clock while a piece is live or if it was never disseminated.
What switching involves
Turret archives from your mail platform, not from another archive, and cannot import one. Records that exist only in Comply, such as texts or social posts, stay there; keep them for as long as your own retention policy requires, and export them before the account closes.
Comply's general terms, which do not name RIA in a Box, say access ends immediately on termination, the customer is responsible for exporting its data, and Comply may destroy data unless it is asked for copies within ten days of termination. Ask which terms apply to your order.
On Turret's side, cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period, the archive is kept for 60 days, and Turret exports on request. Marketing records (pieces, versions, approvals) are exported on request too; individual files download in the app while you subscribe. Archive depth depends on your account: 90 days during the trial, then back through your retention period after the first paid charge, limited to what your mailboxes still hold.
Where Turret fits
Turret is the right size for a small adviser whose supervision scope is email and a website, with Marketing Rule review beside it. See pricing, email compliance, website archiving, Marketing Rule review and security.
To try it, start the 15-day free trial; the card is entered at the end of setup. Or ask a person first: Talk to us.
